Ensign Crusher vs. The Video-Game Borg

from the behind-the-scenes... dept

Salon has an article looking at the “behind the scenes” story at G4, the “gameshow network”, about why Wil Wheaton left the station late last year. Wheaton was its main attraction apparently, but he quit when he felt that management of the show he was on was treating gamers badly and not being at all respectful of what they wanted. Yet another lesson in being honest with your audience. In the days of interactivity, folks in Hollywood need to realize that people can smell “fake” from miles away – especially in the always skeptical tech world. Catering to such an audience requires honesty, and apparently the producers of the show weren’t willing to give it.
