I stopped using Windows about 5 years ago, I am far more productive using Ubuntu than I ever was with Windows.

The only thing a certification is good for is to get hired into a company where you will be surrounded by other idiots who can pass a certification exam but are unable to apply their knowledge to the real world. Anyone who knows what they are doing would go insane working at such a place.

Besides, you would be far better off learning open-source databases like PostgreSQL than MSSQL.
