Fire, Don't Filter

from the that'll-show-them dept

The State of South Dakota has decided that they won’t use filters on state government computers. They’re afraid they’ll block out legitimate uses of the web. That sounds pretty smart. Instead, however, they’re just firing anyone who uses the web inappropriately. That part seems a bit harsh. They’ve already fired 20 workers, and are apparently “making their way through” a list, asking workers what business they had on certain sites. You would think a simple slap on the wrist would make a bit more sense, unless these guys were trying to hire hit men or something.
