Hal Lives! But Talks Like A Baby

An artificial intelligence company has created an AI system they call Hal – named after (of course) the homicidal computer in 2001. Perhaps that’s not the best name. Anyway, they’ve gotten it to the point where it can talk like a baby. They’re hoping to gorw it up to a five year old’s level of conversation in the near future. They admit that it’s not intelligent, but that it is getting better at simulating human conversation.
