Ig Nobel Winners

from the when-researchers-get-bored dept

This year’s winners of the Ig Nobel prize. For those who don’t know, it’s sort of a Nobel Prize send up, for research that “cannot or should not be reproduced”. Some of my favorites from this year are the economics award – they proved that people who want to avoid the estate tax figure out ways to live longer (maybe someone should tell the President he shouldn’t kill the estate tax for this reason). In the astrophysics category, the winner was the guy who determined that “technically” black holes fulfill the “requirements” of being Hell. Useful stuff.
